Optimal Article and Blog Length

Optimal Article Length

When choosing an article for your website, ensure it is informative and interesting with a headline that will quickly catch the reader's attention.

The optimal length of articles for search engine optimization is arguable and depends on the subject and the audience you are reaching out to.

Articles can be as short as 500 words or as long as 1500 words or longer, depending on the subject you are writing about.

Keeping to the point and not filling your article or blog with fluff (meaningless information) or repeating it in different ways will help keep your reader on your page longer and more likely to have it read completely. Search engines will not simply rate an article with unnecessary wording and linking for search engine optimization.

An article needs to be original and informative and provide relevant information relating to the article's subject.

Keeping your articles to a reasonable length is good for your readers' sake. Remember that they will likely not finish your page if it is longer and unable to keep their interest.

Unfortunately, there needs to be a balance so that you don't leave them with only half of the information you wanted them to have, or they may leave prematuraly with the impression that your site is too “wordy.”

Most Internet readers do not read a website page as they would a book, so the shorter, the better, but ensure you get your message across.

Scrolling down a long article can cause a reader to lose the point. Another annoying thing is advertisements that split the article, so be careful if that is your strategy. We all need to make an income, but your visitors must be given a good experience while on your site; otherwise, they will not return.

You can split an article into parts, which can be an excellent strategy to get the reader to return to the next part of your article. Be sure to label the parts so the reader can pick and choose which part they want to read or know what is coming up next to help them determine if they wish to continue reading.

Doing this also might grab the reader's interest, knowing what is coming and keeping them reading.

Remember, do not "Fluff on" about nothing in particular; it is annoying and will turn your reader away.

An article only needs to be as long as it takes to deliver the relevant information on the subject.

So keep it to a respectable length, and remember you can lead into the next article from the previous with a finishing headline to get your reader to move on or come back for the next instalment.
